Hemingway, Ernest. Green Hills of Africa. New York: Charles Scribner’s Sons, 1935.

First edition, later (second or subsequent) printing. Same 1935 date appears on both the title page and copyright page. Scribner’s seal present on the copyright page, but the letter “A” is absent (as expected for printings after the first). Decorations throughout by Edward Shenton.

Original green cloth boards with the author’s facsimile signature stamped in gilt on the front cover and black spine labels lettered in gilt. Octavo. No dust jacket.

Condition: Good to Very Good-minus. Spine is sunned/faded to olive-brown (typical for this title). Boards show moderate edge wear, rubbing to corners, and some dark spotting/soiling on the rear cover. Pages are age-toned with the expected browning to the edges but remain clean, tight, and completely free of writing, ownership marks, stamps, or bookplates. Binding is sound.

A solid, unmarked early printing of Hemingway’s classic nonfiction account of his 1933–34 East African safari.
